Synthesis and Single Crystal Growth by Floating Zone Technique of FeCr2O4 Multiferroic Spinel: Its Structure, Composition, and Magnetic Properties

We present the new synthesis root of spinel-structure FeCr2O4 and its single crystal growth by optical floating zone method, ensuring phase near-ideal composition. The advantage proposed method is creation reducing atmosphere in oven needed for preserving Fe2+ oxidation state via decomposition iron (II) oxalate FeC2O4 used as one initial components. occurrence Fe3+ ions obtained polycrystalline samples well grown crystals was carefully monitored means Mössbauer spectroscopy. Magnetic susceptibility heat capacity temperature dependences reveal a sequence structural (138 K) magnetic (at 65 K 38 transition characteristics compound.
